We specialise in the development and industrialisation of hydrogen infrastructure solutions for the energy transition. In particular, EIFHYTEC is developing nonmechanical hydrogen compressors for green hydrogen logistics and hydrogen service stations.

Job description

EIFHYTEC is looking for a mechanical engineer to strengthen its design office and production team.

The engineer’s main tasks will be:
– Carry out mechanical structure calculations (analytical calculations, calculations using finite element modelling) as well as the associated calculation notes
– Design parts and sub-systems (pressure vessels, components) using CAD software (Autodesk Inventor or equivalent)
– Carry out modelling and drawing work
– Contribute to the management of relations with EIFHYTEC’s main suppliers: definition of specifications, commercial negotiations, contract monitoring, etc.
– Participate in the certification process for machines produced by EIFHYTEC
– Project management: engineering studies and pre-commercial demonstrations
– Write technical documentation and other deliverables in French and English
– Contribute to prototyping work in the workshop
– Make occasional contributions to machine production in the workshop
– Supervise trainees or alternates on technical assignments
Type of contract: Permanent

Location: Haguenau (25 min from Strasbourg) Occasional travel in France and Europe

Profile

We are looking for a candidate with a degree in mechanical engineering. The candidate must have excellent mechanical skills (design, structural calculations, tolerancing, etc.) and master one or more CAD programs (Autodesk Inventor or equivalent). Given the importance of teamwork and the many interactions with external partners and suppliers, he/she must have strong interpersonal skills (listening, empathy, understanding of customer issues, negotiation skills), be able to commit to a longterm project and be passionate about technical and industrial issues.

The candidate must be able to work autonomously and take the initiative in a small organisation where everyone’s involvement counts.

Given the European dimension of the team, excellent knowledge of English and German is highly desirable.

Descriptif du poste EIFHYTEC est à la recherche d’un(e) ingénieur(e) chargé d’affaire pour le développement et la commercialisation de ses compresseurs d’hydrogène innovants. En collaboration étroite avec le directeur de production, le bureau d’étude et le président, ses activités principales seront :
  • Pilotage de projets : études d’ingénierie et démonstrations pré-commerciales
  • Responsable de la relation avec les partenaires et clients et suivi des contrats
  • Rédaction et/ou contribution active aux livrables
  • Gestion de la relation avec les principaux fournisseurs d’EIFHYTEC : définition des cahiers des charges, négociation commerciale, suivi de contrats
  • Participation active à l’établissement et l’entretien de partenariats industriels et la prospection commerciale, notamment en participant à des groupes de travail nationaux et européens, à des foires industrielles, conférences etc.
  • Participation au développement de la stratégie d’industrialisation des produits innovants, en définissant la structure de coûts des machines (« bill of materials »), par l’identification des fournisseurs stratégiques, en contribuant au développement d’une stratégie d’automatisation de la production, la conception de la future usine de production etc.
Etant donnée la nature industrielle de l’activité d’EIFHYTEC, une implication dans les activités techniques de l’entreprise est souhaitée afin de renforcer la légitimité de l’ingénieur d’affaire auprès des partenaires d’EIFHYTEC. Cette implication pourra notamment prendre la forme de :
  • Contributions au design 3D du compresseur et de ses sous-systèmes
  • Contributions à la réalisation de notes de calcul (énergétique, mécanique, etc.)
  • La rédaction de documentations techniques et commerciales
  • Une participation aux processus de certification

Lieu : Haguenau (à 25 min de Strasbourg) Déplacements ponctuels en France et en Europe Profil Nous recherchons un(une) candidat(e) titulaire d’un diplôme d’ingénieur, de master en physique ou science de l’ingénieur, ou diplômé d’une école de commerce avec une forte culture scientifique. Des profils atypiques (reconversion professionnelle, autodidacte, etc.) pourront également être retenus si leur pertinence et leur valeur ajoutée sont démontrées. Une première expérience dans les énergies renouvelables ou dans l’industrie est fortement souhaitée. Le(la) candidat(e) doit disposer d’excellentes capacités relationnelles (écoute, empathie, compréhension des enjeux client, capacité à négocier), capable de s’impliquer sur le long-terme et passionné par les enjeux techniques et industriels. Description of the position

The energy performance of tanks plays a major role in the efficiency and technical-economic viability of hydrogen compression. EIFHYTEC is looking for an engineering intern to study solutions for insulating and optimizing the energy performance of tanks used for hydrogen compression. The trainee will work in close collaboration with the engineering office to carry out his/her assignments. Duties will include:

– State of the art of existing solutions:
  • Materials
  • Performance
  • Costs
– Selection of technologies to be implemented, in collaboration with an engineer from the design office, based on the company’s expertise and practical knowledge:
  • Energy performance calculations
  • Numerical simulations
  • Identification of regulatory constraints
  • Assessment of costs and service life
– Discussions with suppliers of insulation solutions – Production of a prototype in a tank
  • Setting up the test protocol in the workshop
  • Selection and ordering of required measuring instruments
  • Construction of test bench
  • Carry out the test in collaboration with the production manager and his team
  • Evaluation of results
  • Drafting of a test report

We are looking for a student with an engineering background, specializing in energy, thermodynamics or equivalent. The student must be in his/her final year of study and looking for an internship where he/she can apply his/her technical and cross-disciplinary skills. We are looking for a student who is passionate about energy transition issues in their entirety, but who is also capable of being rigorously and consistently involved in the technical development of high-tech components. The student must have a good knowledge of energetics (energy balances, heat transfer), and ideally master numerical simulation software (Star-CCM or equivalent). Knowledge of materials processing is an asset. He/she must be able to work autonomously and take the initiative in a small structure where the involvement of each individual is essential. Given the team’s European dimension, an excellent command of English is a must, and knowledge of German is highly desirable.

Description of the position

The technological solutions developed by EIFHYTEC require the use of innovative metallic materials with properties adapted to hydrogen compression (mechanical strength, resistance to hydrogen, corrosion, thermal conduction, etc.). EIFHYTEC is looking for an engineering intern to contribute to the optimization of innovative materials, as well as to the creation of a test bench and a test campaign. The trainee will work in close collaboration with one of the engineers in the design office and the production manager.

The trainee’s tasks will include :

  • Carrying out bibliographical studies on available innovative materials in relation to EIFHYTEC’s application constraints, as well as co-developing a materials database 
  • Drawing up material optimization proposals based on the bibliographic analysis. 
  • Design of a test bench: design, sizing, choice of components 
  • Analysis of regulatory framework and applicable safety rules 
  • Drawing up specifications, consulting suppliers and monitoring the production of samples  
  • Participation in test bench construction 
  • Conduct experiments on small-scale prototypes  
  • Data acquisition and technical-economic analyses 

Type of contract: Internship contract

Location: Haguenau (France)  Depinding on the progress of the student, a part of the activity may take place at a partner’s location, in south-west Germany.

Salary/gratification: ~950€/month

Profil

The student must have a good knowledge of metallic materials, as well as general engineering knowledge (thermal, mechanical, electrical), and show an interest in experimental work in the workshop, involving the use of laboratory tools and equipment. He/she must be able to work autonomously and take the initiative in a small structure where the involvement of each individual is essential.

Given the team’s European dimension, an excellent command of English is a must, and knowledge of German is highly desirable.
